About Us

The Medical Loan Closet of Wichita serves the community by loaning Durable Medical Equipment to the underserved and individuals who have issues with their insurance.

The primary source of the DME comes from Wichita and the surrounding area. These very generous donations have made the Medical Loan Closet’s assistance to the underserved possible. Thanks so much!

When the DME is received, it is inspected, cleaned and repaired when needed, then placed in the revolving inventory.

There is a modest processing fee of generally $5 to $25 based on the size of the DME.
This fee is due when the contract is signed by the borrower.

The MLC is a 501c3 “For Purpose” corporation, staffed by volunteers. We do not receive any local or state funding.

The MLC of Wichita has provided this service since 2012.

Pratt, Kan.

People who need medical equipment for a short time have a new resource available in Pratt at a very low cost, thanks to a partnership between The Hope Center and Medical Loan Closet in Wichita.

On Monday, Lloyd Hanna, executive director and founder of the non-profit, brought to Pratt a load of wheelchairs, walkers, commode chairs, a hospital bed and lift and other durable medical equipment that has been donated to him. Also in the load were a couple of CPAP machines, available only by doctor’s prescription, that he said retail for around $1,500 to $2,000.

Jeanette Gaider, office manager of The Hope Center says there is a need — by people who have had a knee replacement, for example, don’t qualify for help from Medicare and can’t afford the price of renting from a medical equipment company.

The Center will charge a small fee of $5 to $20 for most items, she said.

Hanna predicted that within a few months, the Hope Center won’t need him to supply equipment, because local people will be donating it.

The Hope Center is located at 314 S. Main and is open Monday through Friday from 1 to 5 p.m.
